ABOUT FORCE 10
Robin Murphy, a Queenslander and a Civil Engineer and Founding Director of the Canstruct Group of Companies was so impressed by the sound engineering of Force 10 that he bought the company in 2003. He has worked tirelessly, continuing the strong focus on research and development began by the original owners, the Beazley family. The company is entirely Australian owned and operated.
Some $20 Million has been spent to date in Research and Development of the Force 10 system. Robin’s key stated requirements were:
- Cyclonic resistance
- Flexibilty in size and design
- Excellent insulation
- Ability to be built in a short period of time
These are still our leading principles today.
In 2007 the company invested $6 million in a new custom-built factory and office at Darra, Brisbane. The company also purchased new machinery, systems and recruited new talent which led to an increase of sales of 250% in the 2009-2010 financial year.
In 2010 Force 10 was one of the first companies to achieve the highest fire rating Bushfire Attack Level for Flame Zone (BAL FZ) in accordance with the requirements of the new Australian Standards for construction in Bushfire prone areas. The new standard introduced this year was a result of the Victorian Bushfire Commission and involved stringent testing at BRANZ (NZ equivalent of CSIRO) of our Walls and Roof.
Force 10 has been exported to over 30 countries across the globe and has built over 3,500 houses in the equatorial zone and in over 30 years we have not had major damage to a single house while many standard houses in the same vicinity have suffered major destruction or been totally destroyed by intense weather conditions.
In 2012, Force 10 moved to a much bigger factory at Crestmead, Brisbane. As a result, the capacity of the factory has been tripled.
